TV3 Go Mobile With Furious Tribe
TV3 approached Furious Tribe with the daunting task of deploying Ireland's first Video on Demand Platform. At the time we were busy developing our xVOD solution so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to test it out. The App solution developed for TV3 is complex in technological terms, it allows streaming on demand of video content over WiFi networks as well as providing text based news, sport and showbiz.
To kick off the project we devised a high level information architecture that placed the most common or repetitive tasks and scenarios higher in the hierarchy of information. Using epicentre design, we designed wire-frames for each screen and interaction of the application. This allowed us to focus on the actual interaction elements for each screen and not ancillary elements such as navigation elements and footers. At this stage all of our wire-frames were quite low fidelity and did not incorporate any visual design elements of the interface.
The next step in the project was to create an interactive proto-App that linked all of the static wire-frames together. By linking the wire-frames together and simulating the user interaction and flow we were better able to understand how a real user would interact with the finished application. We moved through a number of different iterations of the proto-App along until it satisfied us, the needs of the applications users and its owners.
We moved through a number of design iterations, holding cross department workshops and branding sessions until the look and feel had a candy coating that was second to none. Once the experience was finalised we converted the experience into Xcode where the development team took the project to completion and launched it on the App store.
